{"id":3519,"date":"2015-12-29T10:10:42","date_gmt":"2015-12-29T15:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.hulettsonlakegeorge.com\/?p=3519"},"modified":"2015-12-29T10:10:42","modified_gmt":"2015-12-29T15:10:42","slug":"top-news-story-of-huletts-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/index.php\/archives\/3519","title":{"rendered":"Top News Story of Huletts: 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/RoadClosed_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>A &#8220;road closed&#8221; \/ detour sign was in place for three months as the Eichlerville bridge was worked on in 2015.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Since I\u2019ve been writing here on the Huletts Current, I\u2019ve gotten in the habit of recapping at the end of the year what I consider to be the top news story of Huletts Landing from the past year. This is sometimes obvious, sometimes it is not.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the biggest \u201cstory,\u201d in my opinion, was the rebuilding of the &#8220;Eichlerville&#8221; bridge which took a number of months, and the repaving of County Route 6. In other words, the bridge and roads took center stage in 2015. I realized I took the most pictures of those events during 2015, many of which I post here. While many things happened in Huletts during 2015, the work on the bridge and roads was indeed significant.<\/p>\n<p>So for 2015, I\u2019ve selected the the rebuilding of the &#8220;Eichlerville&#8221; bridge, and the repaving of County Route 6 (which were actually two different events but tremendously significant to travel throughout the community) as the: <em>Top News Story of Huletts for 2015<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/2015_OldBridgeRemoved.JPG\"><br \/>\n<em>The abutments from the &#8220;old&#8221; bridge were in rough shape after over 100 years of use.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge20155_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>The new abutments were brought in individually and joined on site.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge20154_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>Great care was taken to protect the environment as the new bridge was constructed. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge20151_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>Work progressed slowly but methodically.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge20152_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>The cross pieces were brought in near the end.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge20153_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>Finally, the bridge had to be joined to the existing private road.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Bridge2015Final_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>The &#8220;new&#8221; Eichlerville bridge as it looked upon completion.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Paving2015a_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>Also in 2015, Washington County repaved County Route 6 right past the Huletts Post Office.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/Paving2015b_Small.jpg\"><br \/>\n<em>This work was significant and also much needed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>New Bridge and Roads: Top News Story of Huletts for 2015<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A &#8220;road closed&#8221; \/ detour sign was in place for three months as the Eichlerville bridge was worked on in 2015.
