Liam is the son of Peter and Angela Ballantyne. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.uscgasports.com\/sports\/sailing\/2015-16\/bios\/ballanyne_liam_2dhg\" target=\"_blank\">You can read Liam\u2019s Coast Guard Academy&#8217;s sailing profile here.<\/a> Liam is the skipper of a J70 sailboat, which is quite large, as seen in the picture below. <\/p>\n<p>This past October he won his race at the Boston College regatta where he made a quick tack right approaching the finish line and surged ahead of three other boats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/USCGA_Sailing2_Large.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hulettscurrent.com\/pictures\/USCGA_Sailing2_Small.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Liam skippering his J70 (on the left) for the Coast Guard Academy against the Harvard team (right).<\/em> (Click picture to see full-scale.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Liam Ballantyne (5th from the left) with the United States Coast Guard Academy&#8217;s sailing team.
