As we approach Thanksgiving, I thought I would share some of the ideas behind the answers people have shared with me over the years when I’ve asked this question. If you have something you’d like to share, I’d love to hear from you. <\/p>\n
The question has many different answers but I believe it comes down to making connections.<\/p>\n
Connectedness is defined in two ways: a.) the state of being joined or linked, and b.) a feeling of belonging to or having affinity with a particular person or group.<\/p>\n
So the answers I have heard when I’ve asked this question can be summed up in these ideas:<\/p>\n
Connectedness to the land.
\nConnectedness to Lake George.
\nConnectedness to past and future generations.
\nConnectedness to the people, friends, places, activities and good times that Huletts offers.
\nConnectedness to our neighbors.
\nConnectedness to the beautiful environment and the abundant wildlife.
\nConnectedness to happiness.
\nConnectedness ultimately to God – the creator of it all.<\/p>\n
Since all happy people share similar marks of human flourishing and thriving, discovering our own way of living out and fulfilling our human nature is something we all share in common. All the great Greek philosophers wrestled with the question of happiness.<\/p>\n
So ponder and appreciate the question, “What does Huletts Landing mean to me?”<\/p>\n
By contemplating the bigger questions of life, we can be led to deeper understanding and gratitude.<\/p>\n
